Metal Roofing Albemarle County VA

Albemarle County VA is a great place to find Metal Roofing, it has become one of the most popular roofs in the county I’m sure if you drive around you will see that this is true, in fact, this area was one of the main places that metal roofs or tin roofs became known.  Some of that is because of Thomas Jefferson, he was a big advocate for tin roofs and even install one on his house, Monticello.  We have designed and created a patented roof ventilation system for metal roofing. We have installed over a few dozen installations with this Ventilation system. I wanted to tell you what the results were literally regarding a roof our firm installed this venting system on. We tested the temperature level and it was 96 degrees outside and 150 degrees within the attic, at that instant the minute our team put in the ventilation system it was 96 degrees outside and it was 103 degrees within the attic room and the same 96 degrees at the base of the attic.

These results have rarely been seen within a process which is actually cost-effective. We have been searching for this type of ventilation solution for over 10 years and the most challenging difficulty about the old systems from the past was undoubtedly the amount of money required installing them. Several of the prior products use a counter batten wood system, which even though this product may get some results, the expenditure is way out of hand, and we are using a lot of natural resources which with our new Therma Vent ventilation product you do not need to use. If you are interested in getting hold of procedures for making your house much cooler in the warm weather as well as in the winter weather getting the entrapped humid air out from even entering into your residential home, then you really should at minimum consult with our team. We can identify what exactly your alternatives are. Our direct numbers are below. We are a very low-stress business.

We believe that competition will not be able to provide you products like our patented under metal roof ventilation system, our optimized MTO custom solar powered fans, and many other products not listed, the truth is it will be hard to find any company that has created and research as much as we have pertaining to metal roofing and ventilation.  Take a look at the video below named Metal Roofing Opal VA, you can also contact us:

We are a part of the Metal Roofing Alliance as listed above, which is a great place to get more metal roofing information. We are AlphaRain.com @ (540) 222-1642. We didn’t know the true answer so we conducted an experiment. We recently installed a roof ventilation system that had soffit vents but not a lot of ridge vent. There was about 25% of the total ridge that was vented and then there were two gable vents at either end of the main gabled roof.

We took the attic air temperature on a sunny 88-degree day at 2 PM. In the middle of the attic at the peak, it was 150 degrees. At either end close to the gable vents at the peak, it was 129 degrees.

We then installed the roof in such a way that as air escaped through the full length vented ridge vent cooler air was drawn in through our unique vented eave vent.

Here are the results:

Date: Saturday 9/6/14

Time                                      Outside Temp                                   Attic Temp

12 noon                                                86                                           100

1 PM                                                      89                                           105

2 PM                                                      90                                           114

3 PM                                                      90                                           114

4 PM                                                      86                                           112

5 PM                                                      83                                           104

As you can see by only ventilating the attic properly we reduced the attic air temperature by 36 degrees.

Keep in mind the standing seam metal roof  was not a light colored standing seam metal roof but an Antique Black color.

Watch this video to see how to reduce it to 103 degrees with the Roof Ventilation System.

We’ve begun installing our patented energy-efficient ventilation system for shingle roofs throughout the Fairfax Virginia area.  Previously, this type of roofing system we only installed in our Metal roofs.  But due to the high demand for energy-efficient Fairfax Roofing in Virginia, we’ve begun installing these new systems for customers in the Fairfax area.  Why choose our system?  Homes that our roofs are installed on typically notice the temperature in their attics dropping 25-30 degrees! Imagine what a difference this roof will subtract from your overall heating and cooling bill each year.  Give us a call at (540) 222-1642 or visit us on our website at https://alpharain.com

Metal Roofing Va Energy Efficient roofing system

Radiant Therma Vent

Metal Roofing VA introduces ventilation to the roof and attic. It reflects radiant heat with the use of a radiant barrier and it stops the conduction of heat in the summer and cold in the winter into the attic space.

How it works: the drip edge at the lower edge of the roof has an air gap below it where air can enter. As the air under the roof is heated by the sun, and as hot air rises exiting the vented ridge vent then cooler air is drawn in at the eave. As long as hot air rises (we don’t think a law can be passed to stop that) then this becomes an automatic air ventilation machine. There is a Styrofoam panel with grooves in it to enhance the air movement and to create a thermal break where cold or heat cannot be conducted into the house.

The home above is located in Charlottesville, Virginia and you can see how the panels are being installed right on top of the foam panel. The radiant barrier is under the panel and the air pathway is under the panel as well.

We will be happy to show you a prototype of this system where we actually disassemble a model of this unique but effective approach to ventilating older homes.

Metal Roofing Ventilation Charlottesville VA

This is a two-part blog about metal roof ventilation system for Charlottesville VA.  One thing that I have noticed is that not too many contractors or roofers understanding the importance of ventilation for attics or for roofing systems.  In this part, on the blog, I’m going to focus on ventilation in the attic.  Have you ever wondered why some attics are a lot hotter than others in the summer?  Most of this is due to poor ventilation if you have ridge vents in your roof which allows a way for the hot air in the attic to escape, but no way for the air to enter at the bottom of your attic you are doing a disservice to yourself.  For air to escape you must have a new way for air to enter, Hot air always rises, so as the hot air heats up and rises you need a way for the fresh cooler air to enter.  The proper way for this is through a soffit vent or through our custom metal roof vent which is placed at the bottom of the roof when the roof is installed.  Our custom metal roof entry even allows for fresh air to enter below the metal roof and flow into your attic.  This is very important to many old houses that do not have any soffits or way to vent air into their attics from the bottom of the roof area.  We have made a video what I have linked to it below that shows a sample and that I will explain exactly how this process works.  In Part two I will talk about Vented J Channel and how we installed a complete patented roof ventilation system in addition to venting the attic.

Custom Vented J Channel
Custom Vented J Channel

To vent the roof below the Widow’s Walk we installed a vented J channel. As you can see from the photo there is a plastic mesh between the roof deck and the j channel to allow for the hot air in the attic to escape. We then slide the standing seam roofing panels into the j channel and we trim out the connection between the j channel and the Widow’s Walk with a counter flashing.
